Well, there’s this place over toward Atlantic on Hoyt, but I’ve never made it through the door because of the ever present line of scene-sters. They kind of bunch up there. Which sort of unravels the appeal of cheese curds and gravy over fries. And a Guinness to wash them down.
So I prefer Sheep Station, 4th Ave and Douglass. It’s themed as an Australian “watering hole,” so it’s self-consciously no-frills. Airy, comfortable, nice bar, full (and affordable) dinner menu.
And they have poutine.
